Ford announced the new Tourneo Connect, which will provide a new level of style, space, and versatility for the Tourneo brand.
The new Ford Tourneo Connect offers the ideal solution for active lifestyles with a comfortable and very flexible interior, a full seven-seater capacity, and two selectable vehicle lengths to suit all needs. It is perfectly suited for handling everything from transporting camping and sports equipment to providing a practical partner for small businesses.
The smart, connected cab introduces the latest digital technology, while a comprehensive, sophisticated driver assistance system helps make the new Tourneo Connect comfortable and easy to drive. New features include assisted driving to reduce stress and Pro Trailer Backup Assist to simplify towing maneuvers.
The new Ford Tourneo Connect is also a confidence-boosting system for four-wheel drive and automatic transmission for petrol-powered models - both parts of an expanded range of new petrol and diesel powertrains that are expected to offer class-leading efficiency.
The new Ford Tourneo Connect offers seven seats on both the short L1 and L2 wheelbase models, which is more practical and comfortable. The second and third rows of seats can be folded or removed to create a spacious cargo space for work or sports equipment when not in use. In addition, the front passenger seat folds flat to transport objects up to 3 meters long, such as kayaks, furniture, or wood.
The new interior increases comfort without sacrificing the practicality that Tourneo Connect customers love. Large sliding side doors on each side of the vehicle help children and older passengers to move in and out of confined spaces where conventional doors may not be able to open fully. Comfort is enhanced by plenty of cup holders and charging ports, while the panoramic glass roof and two-zone climate control help make the car airy and comfortable on long journeys.
Trend, Titanium, and Active customers can also choose ergonomic seats with extended leg rests and four-way electric lumbar adjustment certified by Germany's independent Aktion Gesunder Rücken eV (AGR).
With the second and third rows removed, Tourneo Connect offers up to 3.1 m3 load volume in L2 models and 2.6 m3 in L1 models. In addition, loading longer objects or leisure equipment is facilitated by maximum load lengths of 2,265 mm behind the first row of seats, 1,452 mm behind the second, and 629 mm behind the third for the L2 variants (1,913 mm, 1100 mm, and 317 mm for the L1 variants).
The carefully selected materials and surfaces used in Tourneo Connect create a comfortable premium feel over the entire model range, with unique finishes for each of the series' models, such as the Active model with its stylish blue graphics and contrast stitching.
The new Ford Tourneo Connect has the bold and expressive design language of Ford's latest passenger cars. The front has been designed with strong, sculpted lines to create a sporty impression, where each model has its distinctive look.
Ford's SUV-inspired Active model offers a mix of rugged style and premium features. Unique 17-inch alloy wheels have a two-tone finish of dark and machined metal, the Active Series' distinctive grille, a metallic effect plate, and additional bodies around the wheel arches, sills, and bumpers. In addition, the palette with ten different vibrant colors includes the new Boundless Blue, the unique launch color for the Tourneo Connect Active.
Exclusive wheel design and finishing details further strengthen the differentiation in the range and give customers a selection of models that best suit their lifestyle.
All Tourneo Connect models have a large, user-friendly touch screen on the dashboard that places important vehicle systems at the driver's fingertips.
The touch screen provides a control for navigation, sound, and cabin climate. In contrast, other functions such as telephone connection, vehicle information, and sound configuration are grouped in submenus to discreetly while driving.
Customers can also choose an advanced digital cluster display instead of the traditional dials - a standard feature on the Sport model and available on the Titanium and Active models. The digital cluster has a 10.25-inch screen in the dashboard that works in conjunction with the central infotainment system to offer drivers more information and control.
The new Tourneo Connect also introduces package solutions for driver assistance. For example, parking Pack comes with Active Park Assist with Park Out Assist, which can identify and automatically steer in and out of perpendicular and parallel parking spaces. At the same time, the driver operates the accelerator pedal, brake, and gear selection.
The Towing Assist Pack contains a new Pro Trailer Backup Assist that helps prevent or reduce the "folding knife" risk when reversing with a trailer. The system enables inexperienced drivers to maneuver with confidence by using the door mirror adjustment knob instead of the steering wheel to control the direction of the vehicle and trailer. In addition, Tourneo Connect's rearview camera and sensors identify the circumference of the trailer and display on-screen guidelines to further assist the driver.
The comprehensive driveline for petrol and diesel engines is expected to provide class-leading efficiency for the new Tourneo Connect, with expected fuel consumption from 4.9 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions from 127 g / km. In addition to introducing a four-wheel drive to the model for the first time, the driveline also has an option for automatic transmission for both petrol and diesel engines, available in all length variants.
The range of four-cylinder turbocharged engines includes a 1.5-liter EcoBoost petrol engine that produces 114 hp and 220 Nm of torque and two EcoBlue diesel engines that provide 122 hp and 320 Nm of torque, or 112 hp and 280 Nm of torque. Auto Start-Stop Technology is standard throughout the series for optimized efficiency. In addition, both diesel engines have an innovative "dual-dose" system that injects AdBlue upstream into two catalytic converters to reduce nitrogen oxides and is also compatible with alternative fuels such as HVO and Gas Liquids (GTL).
For the first time, customers can now take advantage of four-wheel drive on the Tourneo Connect for increased traction on loose and slippery surfaces for safer driving. In addition, the system automatically distributes torque between the wheels depending on driving conditions and surfaces, which helps drivers in more challenging conditions.
Four-wheel drive is available on models equipped with a 2.0-liter 122 hp EcoBlue diesel engine and six-speed manual transmission and does not compromise on interior space or load height. In addition, engine protection is available from the factory to support customers who often drive on uneven surfaces. @via Car Division.
